The book vividly recounts how the illness gradually drained Monica's body and stole her potential, despite her enduring spirit as an artist and equestrian. Fowler wrote the memoir to honor her daughter's life and help other families facing similar struggles. It highlights the physical and mental toll of the disorder, including obsessive behaviors and severe anxiety.
